The first regional championships were played in 2016. USA Goaltimate was established in 2017 with three regionals, and in 2018 moved to a unified national championship format.
2016: Where it started
The goal was to connect with existing goaltimate communities across North America and to establish a championship series played under a united rule set.
- Eastern Conference Championship: Carolina Goaltimate Classic. Raleigh, NC :: March 12-13, 2016. Women's and Men's, with the Triangle goaltimate community.
- Western Conference Championship: Golden Gate Goaltimate Games (G4). San Francisco, CA :: March 26-27, 2016. Women's and Men's.
Each was open to any team with at least 60% of its players from that conference. Rosters were capped at 10.
