The Plan

Updated Nov 6, 2026

Ten times the players in three years

Our goal is ambitious: ten times as many goaltimate players in the United States in the next three years.

To get there, we're taking goaltimate to where people already play. More tournaments, in more cities, close to home.

How we get there

  • Youth. Getting goaltimate in front of young players early. See Youth.
  • Ultimate players. A simple, repeatable way to introduce ultimate players to goaltimate.
  • Local Disc Organizations. Partnering with LDOs to bring more structure to the play that already happens in their cities: leagues, clinics and tournaments.

Still in the planning stages

All of this is still being planned. We're from the goaltimate community and part of it, and we always welcome ideas, feedback and, above all, help.

Where we started

When we planned our first seasons in 2017, our goals were to:

  • Maximize the development of competitive goaltimate opportunities in the U.S. in women's, mixed, and men's divisions.
  • Establish a clear championship and qualification schedule.
  • Reduce the financial and travel overhead for participating in our events.
  • Work around existing schedule conflicts with Club and Pro Ultimate.
  • Bridge the gap between local play and a championship series without following a traditional geographic qualification model.

Done so far

  • One National Championship for Man-Matching and Woman-Matching, every spring since 2018.
  • A mixed national championship. MXD Goaltimate Nationals started in 2024.
  • Masters divisions, first played at Nationals in Austin in 2026.
